MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

SITE COORDINATOR
(12-month ASM-CFE Appointment - Maternity Leave Replacement)

Memorial University Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a 12-month maternity leave replacement site coordinator position located in our Gander satellite site. The start date for this position is July 3, 2023. This position is classed as an ASM-CFE under the MUNFA Collective Agreement. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

General Description:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Satellite Sites, the Site Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the undergraduate nursing program at the Gander site and for ensuring Memorial University's and the Faculty of Nursing's policies, procedures, and regulations are followed. The Site Coordinator works with the Associate Dean of Satellite Sites to collaborate in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the undergraduate program offered at the Gander site. The Site Coordinator implements activities related to student progress and student life at the site, including interprofessional education. The Site Coordinator serves as a resource to students on courses, the program, regulations, and student services, and refers students to the course instructor, Associate Dean of Satellite Sites, and/or Student Services as appropriate. They participate in hiring per-course faculty members and lab instructors for the site. In addition to site coordinator responsibilities, the Site Coordinator has small service and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities related to leadership in the daily operation of the undergraduate nursing program at the Gander satellite site include:

* Responsible for the implementation of the BScN (Collaboratve) program, overseeing exams, and compliance with Memorial University and Faculty of Nursing policies, procedures and regulations.
* Identifies supplies and classroom and lab equipment required and submits request to the general office of the Faculty of Nursing.
* Ensures classroom is connected to the remote class at the beginning of each class.
* Participates in hiring of administrative staff, per-course instructors, and lab instructors at the site, and orientates and provides guidance to these team members.
* Assists with formative evaluation of the BScN (Collaborative) program at the satellite sites and discusses findings and recommendations with the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Satellite Sites.
* Coordinates the scheduling of academic offerings at the Gander satellite site with the general office manager, Faculty of Nursing.
* Assists in student recruitment to the site and discusses requests for student transfers, transfer credits, and challenge for credit with the Associate Dean, Satellite Sites.
* Works with the Associate Dean, Satellite Sites to oversee student orientation and academic progress (including appeals) in consultation with the Undergraduate Studies Committee.
* Obtains clinical placements for the BScN students at the site and works in collaboration with the Faculty of Nursing's clinical coordinator to facilitate the Faculty of Nursing student placements in Central Health.
* Ensures that legal agreements with agencies used for clinical placements are in place.
* Assesses the BScN (Collaborative) program challenges associated with clinical placements and works with the Associate Dean, Satellite Sites to lessen the impact of these challenges on the undergraduate program.
* Reviews student pre-clinical requirements required by clinical placement agencies, and that these are placed in HSP Net prior to clinical placements.
* Obtains security passes for students and ensures students have access to information management systems, medication management systems, and learning modules as applicable to their progress through the program.
* Facilitates information sessions and other preparation initiatives for graduating BScN students in relation to the licensing exam.
* Collaboraties with the Associate Dean of Satellite Sites to ensure the maintenance and management of record systems and computerized tracking of BScN students at the site.
* Generates data for program approval, evaluation and accreditation. Assists the Associate Dean with accreditation and other reports.
* Liaises with Associate Dean of Satellite Sites to identify inter-professional educational opportunities for BScN students at the satellite site.
* Assists with the planning and implementation of the Pinning, Crest, and Awards and Scholarships Ceremonies.
* Advises students on their academic program and refers students to course instructors, the Associate Dean of the Satellite Program, and Student Services as appropriate.
* Provides support to the Nursing Society at the Gander site of the Faculty of Nursing.
* Proposes and facilitates methods to improve the quality of undergraduate student life at the Gander satellite site of the Faculty of Nursing

Academic service
* Serves on one or two committees at MUN Faculty of Nursing relevant to the undergraduate program(s).
* Other university external committees as required.
Other
* Carries out other duties related to the planning and delivery of the undergraduate program(s) at the satellite sites, as required.
Teaching
* Teaches one to two teaching weights each year, depending on the number of nursing students at the site.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in nursing preferred.
* Active registration with CRNNL.
Rank
* Lecturer; Assistant Professor if incumbent has a PhD.
Salary
* Commensurate with qualfications on the ASM-CFEs salary scale
Term
* 12-month contract, non-renewable.
