The Yukon Fish & Game Association is looking for a mature and responsible individual to Manage the Whitehorse Rapids Fishway from May to September, 2024.
You must be able to organize a staff of 6-8 people: 4-6 attendants (usually a mixture of high school and University students) and 2 supervisors (usually University students).

In anticipation of an opening
- To ensure that a professional and friendly atmosphere is maintained at this interpretive facility.
- Scheduling hours related to a 8hr 7day week operation
- Handling, depositing and recording of daily sales
- Supervising and working alongside Ladder Attendants
- Sound knowledge of Chinook Salmon habits and migration
- Ability to give single or group tours in a clear and effective manner
- Performing public tours of the facility
- Submitting bi-monthly time sheets to YFGA in a timely fashion in order to facilitate regular pay checks for all staff
- Data collection and relaying information to DFO and YTG Renewable Resources
- Monitoring fresh water species
- Number and sex of returning adult salmon
- Required sampling
- Assist the Whitehorse rapids Fish Hatchery staff in the collection and spawning of the Chinook Salmon brood stock for the hatchery program
- Monitor the Fishway for any unforeseen problems, which may occur during the season in relation to fish passage flows
- General overall day to day facility maintenance
- Knowledge of the Yukon and its history and historical value in relation to Tourism
- Being aware of presenting a professional visitor facility at all times to the general public.
- Ensuring public safety and First Aid course(will be reimbursed)
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Good organizational skills, knowledge of office procedures and report writing skills
- Knowledge of tourism in general including bus tours and multilingual tourism
- Experience supervising employees
- An understanding of Yukon fish species and Chinook salmon
- Ability to work with multiple partners
- Experience handling and/or sampling fish or salmon
- Experience with cash outs and managing budgets
- Experience planning events
- Experience with Health and Safety in the workplace
