Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Asset Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• overall management of the highway mapping unit;
• determining the status of roads through research of historical documents, deeds, surveys, DTI records, etc.;
• chairing the Highway Designation and Naming Committee;
• oversight and assistance in the completion of Registration of the NB Provincial Designated Highways (Mapbooks), Municipal Program reports and mapping, Nations Program reports and mapping, and various specialized mapping and projects.

Work environment:

• Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
• Open office layout.
• Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday.

Essential Qualifications:

Pay Band 5:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible related work experience including operating ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or related GIS software application.
• A minimum of two (2) years supervisory or project management experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint a lower classification.

Pay Band 4:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year progressively responsible related work experience including operating ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or related GIS software application.
• A minimum 4 years of related experience including a minimum of one (1) year supervisory or project management experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Pay Band 3:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year progressively responsible related work experience including operating ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or related GIS software application.
• A minimum one (1) year of related experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications :

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

• experience in analyzing technical issues, reporting conclusions, and making recommendations;
• experience reviewing historical documents;
• demonstrate knowledge of the Highway Act.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Pay Band 5: $2,402.00 to $3,355.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Pay Band 4: $2,098.00 to $2,934.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Pay Band 3: $1,910.00 to $2,669.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
