POSITION SUMMARY

To provide a high quality of nursing care to acute cardiac and general medicine patients and their families utilizing the nursing process, by following the Practice Standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Mackenzie Health Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of a recognized diploma program as Registered Practical Nurse. 
• Holds a current general certificate of registration form the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Coronary Care Level 1 certificate from a recognized institution or commitment to successfully complete within six (6) months of hire.
• Coronary Care Level 2 certificate from a recognized institution or commitment to successfully complete within one (1) year of hire. 
• Two (2) years of recent acute inpatient medicine or inpatient surgical experience, required.
• Experience in Telemetry, Coronary Care or Intensive Care, preferred.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
• Proven attendance record.
• Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
