Learner Services is seeking a
temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Education Grant Assistant . This position provides support on assigned research and projects related to pursuing and securing education grants. The Assistant supports the Agile and Work Integrated Learning team by analyzing, tracking and maintaining information and systems to facilitate the tracking and the communication of grant opportunities within the internal BCIT community. Provides support for grant writing, monitoring of grants, and compiling data for reporting purposes
Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : - Supports the Education Grant Lead on research and assigned grant projects through compiling and preparing information and material.
- Conducts analysis and research on potential grant leads for assigned projects and educational grant opportunities.
- Creates and maintains an online calendar of grant opportunities.
- Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvements of databases required for grant opportunity tracking, submission, monitoring and reporting; Provides user requirements and inputs on improvements and changes to the systems and databases; Participates in data definitions and system set up/changes for unified information flows and structures.
- Utilizes various software and databases to research and analyze information; prepares presentations and provides findings to the Education Grant Lead on information gathered.
- Drafts and compiles materials for written reports and presentations; Provides input to the lead’s recommendations to management on prepared material, information and proposals.
- Completes assigned administration and support tasks to assist with preparation of grant reports.
- Communicates with internal stakeholders across the Institute to request and provide project related information;
- Provides administrative supports for the Agile and Work Integrated Learning team by coordinating meetings and activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes and following up on action items.
- Assists in coordinating, auditing, validating, and reporting of survey data.
- Creates, revises, and maintains standard grant tracking technical documentation.
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
- Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : Definition: The qualifications section for this position was developed using the approved job evaluation plan, agreed to between the BCGEU and BCIT. The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent’s existing qualifications
Education: - Completion of Grade 12, plus completion of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. communications, economics, education, sociology, management science, computing, or accounting).
Experience: - Two years general experience plus two years experience in a technical communications or research analyst role.
Software Computer Application(s) and Expertise: - Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, included but not limited to experience in logical and mathematical formula writing, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
- Working knowledge of CRM/ERP systems (e.g. Salesforce).
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: - Ability to communicate effectively to a culturally and technically diverse audience, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including experience preparing, synthesizing, and writing reports for a wide audience.
- Proven ability to produce high quality reports.
- Strong presentation preparation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as part of a team.
Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.): - Results-oriented with proven analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously and handle changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
Other Skills Abilities: - Acute attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.

Salary Range Salary Grade 7: $57,489 - $62,612 per annum
Additional Salary Information External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with set progressions to the maximum as per the Collective Agreement. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment
