Physician Assistants (PAs) are academically and clinically educated medical generalists who practice medicine within a formalized relationship with a physician. Regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS), PAs collect and interpret medical information, make appropriate clinical decisions and carry out diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a formalized Physician/PA relationship agreement approved by the CPSS.

Required Qualifications

• Certified with the Canadian Association of Physicians Assistants
• Current ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Current ATLS Certification (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Current PALS Certification (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Maintain membership in good standing on the SHA Practitioner Staff
• Membership and Licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) as a Physician Assistant
• Successful Completion of a recognized accredited Physician Assistant educational Program Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physician Assistant)
• Valid Driver's License

• Ability to function both independently and as an active member of the multidisciplinary team in care for all patients
• Ability to treat patients with compassion and empathy
• Demonstrated written and spoken competence in English language
• Demonstrates commitment to a diverse, culturally competent and culturally safe health system and representative workforce
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Exemplifies ethical practices, professionalism and personal integrity.
• Intermediate computer skills

This position is in Emergency and may provide services within Primary Health Care and Long Term Care. Standby may be required. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
