Work Arrangement:

Remote : The position does not require an employee to be onsite.

The Role:

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible to develop new analysis capabilities in space of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and PCB Radiated Emission.

You will be required to interact closely with team members at GM Canadian Technical Centre and work cross functionally to develop standard work procedure, root cause analysis, compare analytical results to test, and identify analytical gaps.

The successful candidate needs to have in-depth knowledge in electronic module/PCB EMC modelling. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, initiative and a high level of independent judgement to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

Identify the critical components on the PCB that contribute to radiated emissions.

Develop analysis capabilities to obtain high frequency digital signals and power signals on PCB   

Develop electronic module/PCB EMC model for radiated emission analysis using tools like CST, HFSS/SiWave, or FEKO

Develop innovative solutions for solving performance gaps. Leverage internal expertise (global partners), and external knowledge (global supply base and academia)

Capture project key technological learnings and propose future improvement opportunities

Ensure on time delivery of high-quality results

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

Recent graduate with a doctoral degree (PhD) from an accredited, public, university during fellowship period in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering

Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Ontario with employee status at company for duration of the fellowship (2-year term) starting March 2024

Not enrolled in a co-op program or other equivalent job placement/employment program

Has no conflict of interest with the company and is not a current or past company employee

Experience in PCB and EMC/EMI analysis using tools like CST, HFSS/SiWave, or FEKO

Knowledge of PCB radiated emission modeling for both digital signals and switching power supplies

Knowledge of radiated spurious emission due to non-linear components

Experience in modeling of radiated emission due to cable/harness

Good understanding of Electromagnetics field theory

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Experience in analog and digital circuit tools like PSPICE

Experience in PCB Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analyses

Meshing tools such as Hypermesh, or ANSA

Experience in CAE vehicle analysis

Experience programming in C, C++, and/or Python

Good understanding of electrical systems, controls and component development/validation

Engineering experience in electrical component EMC testing
