Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, is seeking a full-time pathologist to join the established medical/scientific department team of five. Annually, the department handles over 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 35-40 autopsies, and 16,000 cytopathology specimens. The successful candidate will undertake clinical responsibilities in these services and will have the opportunity to oversee the clinical laboratories at CBRH and in surrounding communities opened its door to patients in 1995. The successful applicant could have potential to be the department head or associate/deputy head depending on experience and qualifications. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.
