Description

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is seeking a results-oriented, dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Aerial Observer with the Northern Response Centre in La Ronge.

This position will function as an aerial observer, with duties to include detection of fires, plotting location, documenting smoke reports and patrol reports, relaying relevant information to fire bases or initial attack crews and conducting debriefings with supervisor.

This position will be required to operate a VHF/FM radio and obtain a restricted radio operators license, operate a digital camera and develop reports utilizing a computer. Applicant must be able to travel in small aircraft for up to 4 hours at a time during extreme fire conditions. You may be required to work extended hours and up to 12 days in a row.

Candidate must be willing to work away from headquarters and be temporarily assigned to other locations in the province. Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have:
Competed a health evaluation according to Agency policies/guidelines
Possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan drivers license
Good communication skills both written and oral
Strong interpersonal skills while communicating with pilot, other aircrafts and fire base
Ability to complete the Restricted Radio Operators Certificate Course and the Aerial Observer training course
