GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Field Technician/Technologist to join our Team. We currently have an openings for Field Technician/Technologist in our Barrie office starting April 2024.

The successful candidate will have the following:

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• Working towards a College Level Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience with materials testing and inspection.
• Experience working with computer assisted drafting (CAD) and surveying is considered an asset.
• Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

• Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates, and asphalt.
• Subgrade and foundation inspections.
• Supervising a drill rig.
• Assisting in the completion of Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments.
• Assisting field investigations, including supervision of borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, test pit investigation and surface water and groundwater sampling.
• Compilation, tabulation, and interpretation of field and analytical results.
• Field testing and sampling of soil, sediment, water and air.
• Various office and field tasks related to materials testing.
• Other duties as required.

Position:

• Student or Contract positions starting April 2024 (4- and 8-month positions)
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
