Temporary Up to 1 year, with the possibility of extension (Full Time Hours)

This is an IBEW union position providing assistance with material procurement, handling and warehouse management of the Electric Generation Plant Warehouse. This position will be responsible for purchasing, evaluation of vendor quotes, shipping and receiving, as well as verification of materials received for the Power and Water Plants; assisting in future developments with, and maintaining, a computerized inventory system; and, ensuring all inventory management controls, procedures and warehousing practices are operated effectively.
Our ideal candidate
- Assists with a corporate computerized Warehouse Inventory System.
- Prepares, evaluates and makes recommendations of material tenders and/or price inquiry requests, with priority given to pressure fittings as per ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association) regulations.
- Ensures stock is safeguarded from physical damage, loss, theft, and misappropriation.
- Ensures proper and adequate supply of product is on hand to meet needs without unnecessary delays, stock outs or overstocking.
- Analyze computer-generated reports to determine order points and order quantities by balancing cost of acquisition with cost of carrying/storage.
- Evaluates current inventory to provide recommendations and information on write-off and disposal.
- Receives materials when delivered and performs verification checks.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Grade 12 education. Post-secondary education an asset.
- Partial completion or completion of a Warehouse or Parts-Man Program considered as an asset.
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience in Electric Utilities and/or Stores departments or a combination of related experience.
- Current certification of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Current certification of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- A Class 5 Alberta Drivers license.
- A management approved combination of training and experience may be considered.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
