Overview

Our client is in Edmonton and is the largest manufacturer and retailer in Canada in their industry.  Growth has resulted in the need to add a Financial Analyst to their team. This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Director.   

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be a key member of the accounting team, focusing on guaranteeing compliance with IFRS accounting principles and respective SOX requirements, while supporting the harmonization, efficiency, and transparency of accounting processes, entries, and reporting. Specific duties include:

• Perform monthly closing, including journal entries, account reconciliations and account analysis across various corporate entities.
• Prepare operating statement review of accounts and subledgers for any misclassification or omissions of, expenses, financial entries, and accruals.
• Build and distribute retail segment reporting through dashboards for key stakeholders.
• Support the Accruals & Accounting Reconciliations team with quarterly reviews including preparing and analysing lead sheets.
• Prepare working papers and assist with internal and external audit requests as required.
• Execute and comply with SOX controls.
• Assist departmental leaders in assessing variances and providing financial data and information required for developing budgets and forecasts.
• Perform ad-hoc projects, reports and analysis as required.
• Help support and mentor 2 junior staff members as they go through CPA program

Requirements:

• Recent, or near completion of CPA
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, manipulating large volumes of data) & experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Experience in data modeling and visualization tools such as Power BI considered an asset.
• Good knowledge of IFRS along with public practice experience is preferred.
