CENTRE FOR ENHANCED TEACHING & LEARNING AND MI'KMAQ-WOLASTOQEY CENTRE
CETL is an academic support unit that promotes effective and engaging teaching and learning through instructional excellence and the integration of classroom technology and media. Teaching and Learning Services within CETL helps educators and faculties develop and deliver excellent courses and curricula.
The Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre (MWC), located on traditional territory of Wolastoqiyik at the University of New Brunswick's Fredericton campus, provides a learning environment for Indigenous students to develop a strong cultural foundation as well as academic and professional skills. MWC offers opportunities for all UNB students and faculty to become familiar with Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqey histories, cultures, contributions, and treaty rights through principles of respect, sharing, harmony, acceptance and unity in diversity.

Salary Range: $65,360 - $84,971 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Teaching & Learning Services and the Director of Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre, the Educational Developer is responsible for contributing to the research, development, and implementation of resources for faculty members and curriculum designers, applying guidance from the MWC and the council of Elders, for transforming their courses and programs to better align with Indigenous ways of knowing.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational (and curriculum development) initiatives that help educators across UNB advance Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies.
- Collaborate with University Departments & Faculties to create guiding principles that reflect a university-wide commitment to Indigenous perspectives.
- Create models for program/course development and initiate pilot projects. Provide focus, monitor, evaluate, and make recommendations.
- Collaborate with MWC, provide consulting expertise for academic units to advance Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies and provide opportunities for faculty members and instructors to improve their teaching methods.
- Develop relevant resources to support faculty development programs related to Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies.
- Conduct research and deliver presentations in conferences, symposia, and colloquiums.
- Contribute to advancing institutional strategies in reconciliation and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Identify innovative practices in decolonization and indigenization in higher education, build networks for collaboration, and share new strategies and approaches.
- Work collaboratively with a wide variety of teaching and learning stakeholders to develop plans and programming.
- Foster and maintain networks among Indigenous organizations, Elders, as well as internal UNB academic leadership and UNB's teaching & learning community on both campuses, for building capacity and opportunities for collaboration.
- Support graduate student project research and provide mentorship and guidance on projects related to Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A Master's Degree in Education with a specialization in curriculum, pedagogy or instructional design or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in educational program/curriculum design and development, as well as course design, development, and support.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Ph.D. is considered an asset.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is an asset.
- Proficient at the organization and delivery of professional development workshops.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams, multi-tasking and establishing priorities with minimal direction.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, time management, planning, project management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
- Experience working with or collaborating with Indigenous communities.
