Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for month end journal entries, reconciliations, analysis and reporting of the company's financial operations. As an intermediate level Accountant, you will be responsible for the full range of routine and complex accounting and record-keeping functions, in collaboration with the Accounting team.
What you will do:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial and management reports, including Balance Sheet reconciliation reports and other analytical reports.
- Monthly Close Process: Contribute towards an accurate and timely monthly close process by completing month-end processing tasks, perform reconciliations and analysis and prepare schedules and other working papers. Ensure an orderly accounting filing system, and a system of controls over accounting transactions including best practice efficiency without compromising quality.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with year-end external audit, including the preparation of audit working papers and audit sample selection. Prepare working papers for tax and compliance filings in all of Semios’ jurisdictions. Prepare regulatory and tax filings in all of Semios’ jurisdictions. Maintain Transfer Pricing working papers.
- Identify accounting issues and improvements as they occur and recommend solutions.
Requirements
We want you to succeed, so you will need:
- 2+ years of related experience
- Accounting Diploma or Degree or equivalent education
- Experience completing month-end process tasks including reconciliations and journal entries
- A resilient, flexible, solution oriented approach to addressing areas of improvement, likes digging into issues
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Self-directed, highly motivated and energetic
- Outstanding work ethic with strong commitment to quality and delivering on time
- Comfortable as an individual contributor and collaborative team member
Nice to have:
- CPA student
- Experience with companies with multiple subsidiaries in different jurisdictions
- Public practice experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
- A desire to improve productivity through automation and tool implementation
- Strong computer skills, working knowledge of Google Suite and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 CAD per year
Please note that the base pay offered may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and experience, as well as business and organizational needs.
