Posi ti on Summary

We are looking for an Engineering Innovation Trainee to join us for a 6-month period, starting in March 2024. This position will be based out of the McCain Center of Excellence located in Fredericton, New Brunswick

McCain is looking for a trainee to work with our Innovation and Robotics department, assisting in the development of technological innovations and solutions, as well as maintenance of ongoing programs and initiatives.

The Team

This position will report to the Director, Global Innovation Robotics and work alongside a team of highly skilled Robotics Engineers, as well as work cross functionally with finance, procurement, industrial and quality groups within McCain.

What You Will Be Working On

• Support the Team in activities relating to research, development, and innovation.
• Assist Robotics Engineers in robotics prototyping and test bench construction and operation.
• Collect and analyze data to assist technological and industrial innovations.
• Assist the McCain Automation and Robotics System (MARS) program.
• Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders to achieve innovation tasks.
• Support scientific and technical documentation.
• Support the operations of the Center of Excellence, including new initiatives, managing special projects and day-to-day tasks.

What You Will Learn

Learn important aspects of applied scientific research, industrial innovation, robotics technology development.

What You Need to be Successful

• Current, recent graduate in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics.
• Must have exceptional analytical skills and be able to work with complex data.
• Must be a self-motivated, analytical, and independent thinker with a focus on results and objectives.
• Effective communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent problem solving, organization and planning skills.
• High proficiency in tools used for data analysis.
• Valid driver's license and access to personal vehicle.
• Willingness to travel to McCain plant locations in Canada, USA and UK for innovation tasks.
• Ability to work full time in Canada.
• Willingness to work onsite at the Center of Excellence located in Fredericton.
