Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a large Electric Utility company in Calgary, AB. We are looking to hire a Financial Accountant, Capital to join their team on a contract basis of 3-6 months, with the potential to extend
Your new role
Prepare monthly reporting and analysis for capital expenditures, fixed asset transactions and inventory to meet management, regulatory and audit requirements.
Responsible for timely and accurate set-up and maintenance of capital projects and fixed asset records.
Provide capital project reporting, project set-up and completion services to business operations.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and related analysis.
Strong focus on cost management, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of capital expenditure, fixed asset and inventory reporting, as well as advising the supervisor of any issues identified.
Maintain effective relationships with multiple internal stakeholders to support the accounting and reporting process, as well as provide financial guidance.
Assist external and internal auditors in performing quarterly reviews and year-end audits of financial statements, including preparation of working papers and all other related documentation and deliverables relating to capital assets.
What you'll need to succeed
A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration plus a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
