Position Title: Executive Director

Organization: Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Position Information:

• Permanent full-time working 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings required

• $54, 080 - $72,800 commensurate with experience

Description

The Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society is currently seeking an interested and qualified individual to lead Yukon Rendezvous. The organization has a strong volunteer-based Board of Directors and two full-time as well as seasonal staff. The role of the Executive Director is to guide and lead the organization in delivering a winter festival that has become internationally known for its exhilarating events. The festival brings the community together after a long winter, to break through cabin fever, reminiscent of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-1898, with costumes and performances that will delight all of the senses.

Yukon Rendezvous has just wrapped up a successful 60th Anniversary Festival for 2024, and the momentum for the next festival is beginning to build already with exciting themes and activities. We are currently in the planning stages to bring another exciting annual Rendezvous Festival in 2025 for the 61st anniversary.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary course work in tourism, marketing, business administration, or program development;

• Recent experience with event planning;

• Experience with completing funding applications and writing proposals;

• Experience with facilitation and presentations;

• Equivalent experience as an executive director or similar role, is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships;

• Demonstrated leadership, including strategic planning, and human and financial management;

• Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt to a fast paced in environment;

• Knowledge of applicable legislation, employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and employee benefits;

• Proficient use of computers and technology including, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, email, financial management systems and social media.

Working Environment

• The position works in a normal office environment, with the exception of the month of February when site planning and coordination occurs with the City of Whitehorse and local businesses, leading up to festival weekend. There are instances, where the Executive Director is required to be offsite, running events on weekends and evenings, outside the regular hours of the office.
