JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of  Project Controls Officer . 

As a  Project Controls Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be required to understand schedules, finances and required performance for the assigned projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

• As a project team member responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and driving the Front-End Planning Process.
• Prepare Risk Management plan with support from other project team members.
• Develop WBS based on statement of work scope.
• Develop and maintain updated and accurate planning phase schedule.
• Perform monthly schedule updates and cost analysis.
• Perform cost management for projects in accordance with OPG’s project management governance.
• Create and issue timely project status reports.
• Develop and maintain program level schedules.
• Ensure approved change control processes are followed.
• Prepare and obtain approval of applicable change control documentation.
• Facilitate and support project financial close out process.
• Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures.
• Assist with development and continuous improvement of the project controls information system.
• Maintain document project file which provides an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle including project approvals, change control and close out.

EDUCATION

• 4-year University Degree in Business, Finance or Engineering​
• PMP, CCP, PSP are considered strong assets.
• Experience with Primavera (P6) is considered a strong asset
• Experience with Ecosys is considered a strong asset
• OPG may consider candidates with alternative educational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 6 years of experience in project controls practice such as project scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
• Clear understanding of project controls principles, theories, and concepts.
• Project management experience within a Hydroelectric generating facility an asset.
• Experienced with engineering and construction management concepts, methods, and techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver reports, briefings, project plans.
• Good organizational and leadership skills, and to be a self-starter who can work both independently and in a team environment that is dedicated to project excellence and best practices.
• Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self-motivation are assets.
• Strong in understanding, executing, and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
• Proven track record on delivery results.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
