Our client is an established industry leader in M&E consulting engineering services for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and high-rise residential building projects. They have a deep history of successfully delivering high quality design for a variety of small and large-scale projects, while maintaining excellent relationships within the industry. Their growing office in Kitchener, ON is currently seeking a talented Electrical Engineer / Designer to join their growing team.
Your new role
As an Electrical Engineer / Designer, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Managing and executing the design of Power Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, and Low-Voltage components relevant to building projects of various sizes and complexities, while adhering to applicable codes and standards
- Evaluating engineering design requirements, as well as overseeing and/or executing the creation of design drawings
- Coordinating with other disciplines
- Performing engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying out components, and calculation of program and building areas
- Communicating with clients, contractors and sales reps.
- Performing site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions
- Preparing project documentation and engineering specifications
- Overseeing construction administration (shop drawings, RFIs, CCNs, monthly draws, etc).
- Reviewing project products, services and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant codes and corporate quality standards
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and qualifications:
- 2-5+ years of experience in the design of Power Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, and / or Low-Voltage systems
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or a College diploma such as Electrical Engineering Technology
- Experience developing drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- High level of initiative with a pro-active approach to work assignments and opportunities
- Ability to multi-task and be organized, especially under the stress of deadlines
- Desire to work within a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; French would be an asset
- P.Eng or E.I.T designation would be an asset, but is not required
