Communications Officer

Full Time- 6 month Term

Yukon Employees’ Union is looking for a term Communications Officer.

The Communications Officer will assist with preparing communications on behalf of the YEU. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Officer will draft/edit communications material for the union component, which may include newsletter articles, blog postings, email blasts to membership and social media posts. This role will also assist with the planning and successful execution of special events and promotions.

The following are essential qualifications for this position:

• Post-secondary education completion (or in process of completing degree or diploma) in communications, media studies, marketing, or a related field

• Two years of related work experience

• Knowledge of both the history of the Canadian labour movement and the current labour relations environment affecting Unions.

• Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment

• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies

• General understanding of social media marketing

• Knowledge of colour theory, layout and design principles.
