Job description
The FOH Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dining room and bar assuring that hotel service standards are met and guest expectations exceeded. The position takes on special revenue generating projects as well as contributes to overall strategic development as well as development, growth, and diversification of the Food & Beverage outlets.
Job Tasks
- Manage day-to-day operations within the F&B outlets within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards, by covering daily operational shifts and admin tasks.
- Oversee that all opening and closing duties of the restaurant are completed correctly and that cleanliness and maintenance standards are adhered to.
- Manage a team of front of house staff including scheduling, training, and general supervision.
- Developing schedules for each member of the waitstaff based on business volume and staff availability.
- Provide onboarding training to all new starts as well as ongoing team training to existing team members.
- Ensures adequate product knowledge of FOH staff through training.
- Monitor the team’s performance promoting achievements and identifying weaker areas for improvement. Providing employee appraisals in line with company policy & with the support of the Operations manager.
- Complete daily cash handling procedures as well as supporting the Operations manager in completing additional cash audit procedures/follow up.
- Providing excellent customer service to guests & ensuring a guest-centric approach by all team members
- Handle guest complaints according to provided guidelines.
- Ensuring that all patrons are treated respectfully and accommodated efficiently according to their needs.
- Ensuring that all service staff are trained in proper customer service skills and techniques in order to deliver high quality service to patrons.
- Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in their area.
- Maintaining inventory levels of food, liquor, cleaning supplies, linens, and other items needed for daily operations.
- Monitor and order liquor inventory.
- Monitor, analyze, and control all labor and inventory costs.
- Assist with catering function management.
- Strong detail analysis of service delivery and identify continuous improvements.
- Coordinates with the Operations Manager for the preparation, presentation and service of Food and Beverage products to always ensure highest quality.
- Communicate with Senior Management & Front Desk for the promotion of the dining outlets and future events and promotions.
- Developing recipes for cocktails & drinks promotions.
- Designing and implementing new department operating policies and procedures as required.
- Working closely with the chef or other kitchen staff to ensure that the food and beverage service meets the needs of customers.
- Job environment requires the candidate to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Perform other hotel/restaurant-related duties as required or assigned.
- Follow B.A.R.S.-L guidelines for responsible alcohol service.
- Ensuring all company procedures & policies are adhered to within the F&B outlets.
- Conducting pre-shift and general meetings to ensure the continuous growth and improvement of the department.
- Following food safe & public health guidelines as outlined by senior management and according to training.
- Candidate to maintain food safety certificates applicable in Yukon Territory.
