We invite you to help our Canada team shape the future of agriculture. At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Branding and Operations team is currently seeking a Field Scientist - Herbicide.
This position is a 12 month fixed-term contract position. We have a Flexible Work Location approach and this role can be based in Plattsville, ON, Canada.
Duties:
- Oversee field efficacy studies in the assigned region, offering expert analysis and research to inform crop strategy through teamwork. Deliver reports and data for product registration and engage with local academic, government, and research entities.
- Validate digital tools and precision application equipment to generate electronic and digital data from research and development trials.
- Conduct field trials to test both conventional chemistries and biological alternatives that enhance cropping production in target crops.
- Gathering data on product performance and technology across soil types and climates, assessing environmental impact to guide soil health management.
Qualifications
- Masters in Science or Ph.D. in Pathology, Entomology, or any relevant discipline in the biology sciences.
- 2-3 years’ experience managing a crop protection field research program.
- Previous experience of working with herbicides in various row crops (i.e., corn, soybean, cereals) and understanding of associated crop agronomy and pests in Eastern Canada is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of operating field equipment (i.e., tractor, seeder, sprayer, small-plot combine, etc.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
