Job Title: Mine Blaster
Location: Ontario, Canada
Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Accommodation: Camp provided
Travel: Provided from Sudbury, Ontario, or Timmins
Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mine Blaster to join our dynamic team in Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently conducting blasting operations in a mining environment. This position operates on a rotational basis, with 2 weeks on followed by 2 weeks off, providing a balanced work-life schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and execute blasting activities in accordance with safety protocols and project specifications.
- Handle, transport, and store explosives and detonating equipment securely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the mining team to design blast patterns and sequences that optimize rock fragmentation and stability.
- Conduct pre-blast inspections, including assessing geological conditions and ensuring the safety of the blast area.
- Monitor and control blast-induced vibrations and air overpressure to minimize environmental impact.
- Record and report blasting activities, including consumption of materials and outcomes of the blasts.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and safety regulations.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure coordination and efficiency of mining operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Mine Blaster or in a similar role in the mining industry.
- Valid Blasting Certificate or equivalent certification.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in blasting and mining operations.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Physically fit to handle the demands of the job in various weather conditions.
