Position Summary

Founded in 2017, the Centre for Indigegogy has prevailed as an elite body for Indigenous centered, wholistic professional development programming, offering education to the community. Situated within the Master of Social Work (MSW) Indigenous Field of Study program at Wilfrid Laurier University, the Centre offers thirty-five (35) modules, spanning four (4) certificates, including four (4) standalone wholistic professional development courses. We are proud to offer year-round programming, in addition to customized trainings with organizations across Turtle Island. This position is foundational to the ongoing coordination and development of the Centre for Indigegogy.

Accountabilities

• Administrative
  • Overseeing ongoing administration tasks of the Centre, including the development and processing of contracts, invoices, office supply ordering and managing the workshop registration system (DestinyOne).
  • Maintaining an accurate and efficient electronic and physical filing system for Centre documents (i.e., contracts, statistical reports, agendas etc.). Maintain website, social media, and Centre marketing materials.
  • Ongoing collaboration with Centre Manager to provide appropriate centre updates.
  • Facilitating the development and distribution of relevant workshop materials (i.e., information documents, agendas, zoom links etc.).
  • Managing and responding to the Centre’s email account, consulting the Centre Manager as appropriate (i.e. refunds).
  • Occasional Assistance with Centre Re-Search team administrative tasks (i.e., ordering plaques, filing documents etc.).
  • Support and Administer Centre Projects as determined by the Centre Manager and/or Director.
  • Representing the Centre with professionalism, accountability and integrity while upholding the Centre’s values.
  • Maintaining an accurate and efficient record of Centre meetings and projects, both historical and current.
  • Workshop maintenance (i.e., preparation of snacks, opening and closing circle etc.).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related field (i.e., social work, administration)
• Minimum three (3) years experience in working with Indigenous communities and community organizations. Direct or lived experience with Indigenous culture, such as teachings and/or ceremonial practice.
• Excellent organizational, coordination and administration skills
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative.
• Capable of working independently as needed, and within a diverse team context.
• Experience with relevant Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Publisher, Excel).
• Experience with technology and troubleshooting common concerns.
• Ability to adapt to a changing workplace (i.e., blended modules, addition of new staff and/or placement students).
• Experience with the Zoom platform.
• Excellent time management in the workplace, including daily workload and working hours.
• Excellent accountability, with a focus on ongoing communication and problem solving.

This position has been deemed eligible for educational equivalencies.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, continuing position. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Flexibility in hours may be required, including occasional evening and/or weekend work due to event coordination and student supervision. Should this work be required, prior notice will be provided, and flexible work arrangements will be made accordingly.

Compensation

$32.74 to $34.62 per hour with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $37.43 per hour.

Considerations for new hire step placements include, qualifications and length/depth of required experience, relevant market rates for similar jobs, internal equity, and estimated learning curve in starting the job.
