Position Information Position Title Instructor - 0.6 FTE - Limited Term Posting Number F594P Type of position Limited Term Department/Unit Dental Hygiene Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada About the opportunity The School of Dental Hygiene, Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking applications for a 2-year limited term dental hygiene educator position at the rank of Instructor and at an FTE of 0.6, 10 months a year (January - June; and September - December), with the possibility of renewal. The appointment will commence September 1, 2024.
Responsibilities will include didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in all aspects of the School of Dental Hygiene programs, and those aspects integrated with the Dentistry programs. Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus. This position also includes a modest scholarly activity expectation.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist and must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Nova Scotia. Preference will be given to applicants who are authorized to administer local anaesthetic. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or higher) or be enrolled in a Master program with intent to complete within 12 months. The candidate must have completed at least one course or certificate in teaching methodology. Candidates with experience in didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in a dental hygiene program are preferred. Education and/or experience in online distance education delivery models including course design, implementation, and evaluation are strongly preferred. A knowledge of dental software will be considered an asset. Demonstration of strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates whose area of scholarly activity complements the existing scholarly activity within the School/Faculty.
