Work Location: Same as above and various worksites across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland area.

Job Description:

• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Assist to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Assist to measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Identifying areas of weakness and fixing problems in damaged structures
• Ensuring finished structures are safe and can weather some damage
• Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, load, unload and check deliveries and undertaking tasks to assisting carpenter generally
• Maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation
• Assist carpenters in their duties
• Perform work as directed by the supervisor
• Work with materials and hardware power tools
• Transport materials to different worksites

Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 1 year of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required.

Work under different weather conditions

Driver’s license type 5 is required

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Overtime required, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines, Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Repetitive tasks, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods

Work site environment: Noisy, Dusty, Outdoors

Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs).

Language: English is required.

Salary: $30.00 per hour, 42.5 hours per week.

Important information: The regular schedule will be from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. However, flexibility on schedule is required. Work on weekends and overtime may be required depending on the business’ needs.
