Job description
The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a Project Biller to join our Toronto, ON office. The Project Biller is the main point of contact for project managers and senior administrators for all revenue and invoicing inquiries and support. This individual will also play a role in setting up new projects in the accounting database and all Brattle applications.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
- Take ownership of all aspects of a project’s billing and provide accurate and timely invoices
- Prepare, review, and distribute monthly billing packets to project managers (PM)
- Gather related expense backup for invoices
- Prepare adjusted, corrected, and/or rebilled invoices as necessary
- Proactively maintain customer’s electronic invoicing websites, including adding new timekeepers and matters and submitting invoices
- Answer internal and external questions regarding invoices and address problems
- Proactively monitor projects with budget caps and alert PMs when nearing cap
- Support ad hoc requests for project billing, revenue analysis, budget reporting, accruals
- Assist in accounts receivable inquires and reconciliations as needed
- Proactively follow up on unbilled aging and update project notes
- Proactively document project records regarding issues, rates, write offs, etc. as they occur
- Process timesheet corrections
- Serve as liaison with legal professionals related to ongoing business services and future business engagements (proposals, information requests, rate questions, etc.)
- Maintain accurate project and employee bill rates in the billing system
- Regularly follow up on the status of projects to determine which projects can be closed
THE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or business
- 2 – 5 years of billing experience, preferably in professional services industry
- Experience and proficiency in using structured accounting systems
- Knowledge of Aderant Expert software preferred
- Intermediate MS Excel skills
- Ability to interpret complex information and explain to others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to structure thoughts logically
- Ability to prioritize tasks, estimate time commitments and communicate when time constraints are anticipated
- Strong attention to detail
- Collaborate with other departments to improve productivity and work cooperatively to achieve firm goals and objectives
- Evening and/or weekend work may be required
