Dimensional Metrologist

Job description

Our client, a global company operating in the industrial field, is looking for a dimensional metrologist. This person provides 3D metrology services using various measurement tools and systems at customer sites and/or in metrology laboratories.
He or she is responsible for the inspection of industrial parts, structures and equipment with measuring tools or systems.
He or she also designs the processes to be followed to carry out controls and measurements during the manufacture of a product.
He or she observes and applies the quality standards and standards in force and writes his or her reports.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform control and dimensional control of large parts, mechanical parts and industrial equipment
- Assemble and adjust tools or equipment
- Control parts during production
- Perform geometric tolerancing analyses
- Perform 3D scanning of terrain
- Write control reports (French/English)
- Write and program measurement ranges (French/English)
- Manage and monitor metrology projects
- Evaluate projects and define methods with the client
- Perform measurements, 3D scans, inspections and alignments directly at customers' premises
- Provide recommendations to customers
- Ensure that the latest generation 3D instruments (Leica laser tracker, Romer arm, 3D scanners, CMM) and software used (PolyWorks) are compliant and optimized to their highest performance during projects

Required Skills:
-Training related to metrology or mechanical engineering
-Knowledge of industrial metrology methods and means
-Experience in plan reading and dimensional metrology
-Know how to use metrology devices such as laser trackers/measuring arms
-Bilingualism (French and English)

Assets
-Knowledge of geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
-Experience in taking dimensional measurements with 3D measuring instruments
-Knowledge of Polyworks (or other 3D metrology software)
-Experience with the use of a measuring arm, laser tracker or 3D scanner
-Knowledge of aeronautical standards
-Laser or total station use
