About the Role
The District Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for investigating preventable loss in our retail stores and carries out store audit procedures. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, demonstrates ethical and safe work practices, has a high level of discretion and is passionate about loss prevention initiatives. The successful candidate must also be available to travel locally and work flexible hours to accommodate hours of operation for stores.
Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for conducting all investigations within an assigned district
- Prevents inventory loss through communication and participation with all store staff members in programs aimed at theft awareness and prevention measures
- Audits store security procedures such as cycle counts, reporting etc.
- Detects and processes individuals engaged in-store theft and fraudulent activities including completing investigation and related reports with police agencies and the criminal justice system
- Conducts initial investigation of internal matters (ex. cash over/short reports, etc.)
- Responds to all emergency situations
- Provides direction in merchandise protection standards and conducts awareness training
- Key contact for their group of stores for camera system installs and maintenance
- Works directly with armoured car service on troubleshooting and evaluation of store needs
- Works directly with alarm companies on setup and ongoing maintenance issues
- Interviews suspects and witnesses and prepares in-depth reports on all investigations
- Testifies in a variety of hearings and court actions
- Other related tasks as required
Work Experience
- Minimum, 2 – 5 years’ loss prevention experience
- Minimum, 2 – 5 years’ management experience
- Previous retail experience will be considered an asset
Education
- Diploma or Certificate in Security/Police Studies or related field (preferred, not required)
- Valid Alberta Security License required (before start date)
- Post-secondary education or equivalent (preferred, not required)
- ProServe/Serving It Right Certification
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is preferred
- Pressure Points Control Tactics (PPCT) will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of WHIMIS is preferred
- Knowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques
- Interview and interrogation training will be considered an asset

- Must be willing and able to work irregular hours, including weekends and occasional overnights to support the retail stores
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, Project and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
