Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Supplies & Services, the Materiel Handler is: Responsible for transportation, distribution and/or retrieval of equipment, supplies, urgent pharmaceuticals, in-house mail, and linen. Maintains inventory of medical/surgical supplies in designated patient-care areas. Supplies linen and medical/surgical supplies to nurse-servers where applicable. Maintains linen inventory in the Linen Room in conjunction with the Winnipeg Hospital Laundry. Prepares linen supply carts for delivery to user areas. Assists with the replenishment of medical/surgical supplies and other related equipment. Responsible for filling orders from reservations, stocking shelves, replenishing stock, and performing inventory counts as required. Position requires considerable standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, stretching, pushing and pulling. Pushing and pulling cartloads/pallets of supplies that may weigh up to 2, 100 lbs is required. May be required to work in cramped and/or high conditions where carrying items over obstacles and twisting motions are necessary. Will be required to hand hazardous/dangerous goods in accordance with WRHMIS regulations and Workplace Safety & Health standards.
