Human Resources Generalist:
Our client is searching for a Human Resources Generalist to join their team. This role will be responsible for providing support for the delivery of human resource services that align with legislative requirements and the company’s objectives. A successful candidate will effectively and efficiently manage the human resources priorities and be a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s strategic plan and operational deliverables. This is a two month contract with the option to extend, and the position reports directly to the Human Resources Senior Manager.
Your success will be defined by your ability to: - Support the development and delivery of service area plans, strategies, policies, and processes that are aligned with the company’s operational plans, and supports compliance with relevant legislation and collective agreements
- Research and provide information regarding employee programs, and participate and contribute in the execution of Human Resource programs and initiatives
- Interpret and clearly communicate Human Resource policies, best practices, procedures, initiatives, and guidelines
- Research and analyze data trends and metrics to assess and anticipate business risks
- Provide professional human resource expertise, advice and support to leaders on employee relations matters across all teams
- Act as a liaison between employees and managers to build a climate of success
- Assist managers in addressing and resolving employee behavioural and performance concerns
- Coach and advise managers on the interpretation and application of Collective Agreements
- Liaise with local Union Business Representatives on ongoing labour relations matters within the various company teams
- Support managers through the grievance process and be responsible for grievance management
- Support managers through the investigation process, including investigation resolution, progressive discipline and terminations
- Research changes in industry practices and business trends to capitalize on opportunities to improve service area deliverables including increasing employee engagement, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives
- Be responsible for human resources data management to ensure accuracy and confidentiality, support data management audits and develop processes and procedures to resolve inconsistencies
- Coordinate the performance appraisal review process and support leadership to ensure performance objectives, feedback, and expectations are clearly communicated, and professional development goals are being actioned
- Support the job description annual review process through liaising with business leaders for feedback on developing or updating job descriptions
- Support the delivery of training and development aligned to the learning and development curriculum and in alignment with the Human Resources department’s operational plan and organizational needs
- Support the Recruitment Programs in day to day initiatives, on-boarding processes, and during peak recruiting periods
- Prepare reports, presentations and documentation and research and support special projects as required
- Support Health and Safety in claim’s management, investigations and employee inquiries
- Adhere to guidelines as set out in the company policies
- Remain in compliance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code, the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participate in the Health and Safety program
- Perform related duties as required and assigned
Your strengths include: - Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or Business Administration
- 3+ years experience in a similar role
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and experience in a unionized environment is an asset
- Experience working with teams in multiple locations is considered an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deliver presentations and prepare clear and concise reports to various stakeholders is required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other databases is essential
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
