We are recruiting an experienced Manufacturing Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the
finance & operations team by providing a deep financial and business
insight on the manufacturing operations of the business. The role will also
have the responsibility to complete a comprehensive analysis of all labor, materials
and overhead transactions to identify problems, recommend solutions, and drive
implementation of improved practices, tools, and policies to support business improvements.

Key Responsibilities
- ERP Super user – plans, study and
collects data from the ERP system and other sources (TCP) to determine costs of
business activities such as manufacturing costs and goods, labour, and
overheads
- Reviewing job costing transactions for
accuracy and post-closing entries
- Ensuring Research and Development jobs
and labor are accurately recorded and tracked.
- Maintaining accuracy of standard costs
(BOMs), assist with reconciliation, review, and analysis.
- Work with the Operations department to
establish and maintain standard costs.
- Establishing costing standards and cost
reduction activities for the plant.
- Monitor manufacturing costs and data,
purchase price variances, production variances and inventory budgeting/reporting.
- Explaining variance analysis.
- Entering and reconciling production
labor and equipment downtime
- Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and
prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
and changes in standard costs.
- Records and reports cost information for
use in controlling expenditures, conducting audits as necessary.
- Conducts product line analysis for
management review.
- Identifies labor costs by studying
manufacturing processes.
- Identifies overhead costs by determining
manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Maintains databases by adding new
materials.
- Work closely with team members to develop and support the analysis of
cost of goods, margins, purchase price and production variances and other
associated operating costs
- Support
the department in accounting tasks, as needed
Requirements:
In addition to the above, you have:
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum three years of Inventory/Cost Accounting or related
experience
- Understanding of Cost Accounting Principles under ASPE
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a must
- Business and financial acumen with willingness to help out in
other areas as needed
- Extensive experience working with an ERP system; Syspro experience
is an advantage
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, Power Query, Power App and
Power BI.
- Proven analytical / quantitative skills
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative
and flexibility. Able to prioritize workload, understand a sense of urgency and
effectively meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills in English written and verbal. Able to
explain self and listen to others in a respectful manner
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team building skills. Able to
collaborate and communicate with cross functioning departments.
- Highly accurate, great attention to detail and an aptitude for
problem solving.
- Actively involved in, leading by example and supporting company
values and continuous improvement programs.
- Cultivates a proactive and positive
work environment. Maintains
confidentiality.
Working Conditions:
- Able to sit and stand
in an office setting and also walk around on the production floor.
- Must wear PPE, bump caps, coats, hair nets and safety shoes when on the production floor.
- Exposure to machinery sounds and loud noise levels.
- Ability to push, pull, bend and lift in an office setting.
