Job Summary: Ensure compliance, maintenance, and continual improvement to the ISO14001 Environmental Management System, Occupational Health & Safety Management System, and applicable legal requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Post-Secondary Education in Environmental, Health and Safety, Human Resources, or similar field
- Minimum 3 - 4 years of experience
- Ability to work independently and knowledge of best practices
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for all elements of the Health and Safety program, including but not limited to policy creation/ maintenance, program role out, training and communications as per Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) standards
- Health and Safety, and Environmental Management Representative, responsible for reporting performance measurables and concerns to Senior Management
- Employee Advisor for Health and Safety issues and concerns. Asses concerns and coordinate with various departments for completion. Follow up where necessary
- Coordinate and participate in JHSC Workplace inspections and track action items. Coordinate, Co-chair, and be the Secretary for the JHSC meetings
- Liaise with Department Managers to put forth proactive H&S initiatives
- Management Advisor regarding Health and Safety legislation in relation to the workplace
- Perform hazard and ergonomics assessments of workplace and provide feedback to Management
- Lead and conduct internal audits for EMS and Safety Groups
- Lead the ESRTW program by acting as Case Manager
- Document Control for Environmental and Health & Safety Systems
- Provide health and safety support and training to all employees
- Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
Work Environment:
- 50% Office environment, 50% Plant floor (PPE required)
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
- Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis
Health and Safety:
- Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
- Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
