Job description
The Recreation department has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Swim Instructor at Meadow Park Sports Centre. Reporting to the Aquatics Recreation Programmer, this position offers a variable schedule of up to 20 hours bi-weekly during the sport centre operational hours of 6am to 9pm, including weekends.
The Swim Instructor’s main responsibilities include swim instruction for all ages, communication with parents and delivery of report cards at the end of each lesson block, setting up their own area for each swim lesson and ensuring all participants are safe during instructional times. The Swim Instructor will deliver quality swim lessons, while ensuring a positive guest experience. Qualified candidates are fully certified and qualified Swim Instructors with current Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Awards, Standard First Aid and CPR-C or equivalent and Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor. Candidates must have some knowledge of aquatic-related policy and procedures, water safety and first aid, and demonstrate excellent teaching or training skills for instruction. The starting wage for this job position is $27.57 per hour.
