Job description
Our Nationally recognized client is looking for a Unix/Linux Specialist to join their team. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Operating System (OS) Platform Services, the ideal candidate will have proficiency in supporting the Redhat Linux 8, 9, and Solaris 11 environment. Responsibilities include performing Operating System administration, maintenance, patching, and implementing hardening practices. The role involves assisting in the planning and execution of server installations, configurations, and tuning of Linux utilizing Satellite and Ansible (Ansible Automation Platform). Additionally, the specialist will contribute to the development of Ansible playbooks to automate routine administrative tasks and participate in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation such as build books and operational guides. Flexibility to undertake other activities and deliverables as required is also essential.

*** Hybrid role (required 8 days on-site in downtown Ottawa per month) ***
*** Candidates must be eligible for Government of Canada SERECT Security Clearance (10+ years in Canada) ***

Responsibilities

• Support the Redhat Linux 8, 9 and Solaris 11 environment
• Perform Operating System administration, maintenance, patching and hardening practices

• Assist with the development of ansible playbooks to automate every day administrative tasks
• Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation (build books, operational guides, etc.)
• Other activities and deliverables, as required
Qualifications
The Consultant should have the following qualifications and skills:
• A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated work experience in a Redhat Linux 7/8/9 Environment using Satellite
• A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated work experience with Solaris 11 environment
• Ansible Tower/Ansible Automation
• UNIX System administration, hardware support and building (Scripting, Packaging, OpsCenter)
The following will also be considered:
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Network Automation, and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Redhat OpenSCAP
