Central Elgin Beach Rescue Service: Lifeguard

 

The Municipality of Central Elgin is a progressive, growing, urban and rural municipality located on the north shore of Lake Erie in the heart of Southwestern Ontario adjacent to London and St. Thomas. Port Stanley which is located on the North shore of Lake Erie is home to one of the busiest beaches in Southwestern Ontario and proudly able to fly the prestigious Blue Flag signifying public safety and environmental stewardship.

Reporting to the Central Elgin Fire Chief and Central Elgin Beach Rescue Supervisors, Lifeguards are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the public at the Municipality’s Main Beach in Port  Stanley.

Lifeguards act as public liaisons for the Municipality. Key responsibilities include: supervision of the designated land and waterfront, first aid provision, coordinated first response with Central Elgin Fire Rescue/allied services, and regular lifeguard training.

Desired qualifications: *Lifeguards will be required to demonstrate preliminary fitness proficiency in order to be offered a position with the CEBRS. This includes a 400m swim in 10 minutes and an 800m run in 4:30 minutes. Additional fitness testing throughout training will be required for employment.

The 2024 Rate of Pay is $28.87
