Contract Opportunity - Coordinator
The Seniors Network Society of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has a contract job opening for a part-time Coordinator. The successful candidate will be passionate about strengthening programs and services for seniors by engaging and empowering older adults to take a leadership role in the community.
The coordinator reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall oversight, leadership, direction, and operation of all initiatives within the portfolio.
Overview
The Seniors Network is a community-based, registered society that has been facilitating a collaborative community response to seniors' issues since 2008. The Seniors Network is composed of older adult community members and representatives of service providers, government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and service clubs that are involved in and care about seniors residing in these communities.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
- The coordinator shall organize the bi-monthly meetings of the Seniors Network including sending out meeting notices, agendas, and minutes to the members.
- Develop with the Board of Directors initiatives to support the strategic direction of the Society.
- Coordinate Board Meetings and complete annual BC Societies reporting and annual reporting to core funders.
- Recruit and onboard new volunteers and support their participation in the Network.
- Support the Network’s Task Groups to discuss and prioritize activities and support the follow through of action.
- Establish new links and strengthen existing partnerships with community groups, agencies, individuals, city councils and government agencies.
- Maintain accurate program budgets and collaborate with the Treasurer and accountant to ensure operations within budgetary constraints.
- Identify additional sources of financial support for Seniors Network initiatives and write grant proposals.
- Develop promotional, public education and media relations materials as needed.
- Produce a monthly calendar of events and annual Seniors Resource Directory for publication.
- Oversee and support part-time contractor and Intergenerational Garden project.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Graduation from a post-secondary program in social sciences, communications, community development, gerontology or equivalent.
- Exceptional leadership and facilitation skills, along with a proven ability to work with community committees and support a Board of Directors.
- Knowledge of relevant community resources, service providers and networks within Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Katzie First Nation as well as city-wide senior serving organizations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated coordination/administrative skills including creating agendas, minutes, arranging guest speakers.
- Knowledge and proven success in grant and report writing, and evaluation of projects is essential.
- Strong communication skills including writing, public speaking, presentations, social media management, and basic website maintenance.
- Strong computer knowledge and experience including Windows, Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Canva or another graphic design program.
Additional Conditions of Employment
- Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.
- Must possess valid WorkSafe BC Insurance.
- Clear Criminal Records Check.
- Home office with computer and internet access.
- Ability to work flexible hours.

Job Type: Contractor
Job Status: This is a contract position, part-time, approximately 25-30 hours per week, paid at $30 per hour, plus mileage allowance.
Work Schedule: To be worked out with the Board of Directors. Days and hours are flexible, except for the Seniors Network meeting times which are fixed and usually occur every second month on the last Wednesday of the month.
Contract amount: This contract is for $42,000 per year, renewable after one year.
