Job description


Would you like to make a difference in the lives of young adults experiencing cognitive disabilities?  At a pivotal point in their lives, our Transition Support Workers give training and guidance to high school students, preparing them for life after high school.  By working with them to develop individualized transition plans and by connecting them to the agencies and programs that can help them achieve that, you will be making a huge difference in many peoples lives.  

Munch Cafe and Catering is a non-profit social enterprise that employs cognitively disabled adults in our catering business. The Transition Support work is an extension of this mission into the schools.  We have two semesters of funding for this project (hence the 5 month term), to be continued in the fall.
We provide complete training which you are paid for.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Skills Development and Employment Readiness
Teach food skills.
Assist students with employment readiness
Do exercises in our workbook to determine interests, aptitudes and abilities.
Help each student develop an individual transition plan for a smooth transition to life after high school using our workbook.
Connect each student to the agencies most suited to assist the student with their chosen Transition Plan goals.

Qualifications:
Required:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in food preparation (at home is fine)
Organized, adaptable, calm, understanding, empathetic, caring
A drivers license in good standing
Assets:
Food Safe Level 1 and 2 course
Experience interacting with people with cognitive disability.
Passion for cooking.
