The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $120,186 - $150,232 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $172,768 is available through annual performance increases.

Job SummaryThe Office of the Vice President Research and Innovation (OVPRI) provides guidance for UVic’s research enterprise at the institutional level, including setting strategic research priorities, building partnerships, developing initiatives, and providing services to support research to ensure that UVic research continues to grow and prosper.
The Office of Research Services (ORS) supports Aspiration 2030 and the research mission of UVic, to benefit society through the advancement and application of knowledge, creative and artistic expression, and the creation of a research inspired learning environment. The ORS provides top-quality administrative support and services to researchers to attract and manage their funding, including:
Mandate/core purpose of role:
The Director Research Services (DRS) provides management and administrative leadership to the University and to researchers by ensuring the overall effectiveness of the research administration programs and services within the Office of Research Services, including research finances, pre-award support, post-award approval and human research ethics. The DRS coordinates with both Associate Vice-Presidents Research to ensure research development services are aligned and compliant with human research ethics and animal care services.
The DRS leads grant implementation and planning for ORS, has financial and reporting accountability, ensures compliance with regulatory processes, supports research policy development and implementation, liaises with external funders, partners and associations, and participates in OVPRI operational planning as required.
Job RequirementsEducation : Doctoral degree, minimum 7 years’ senior level experience in administration, leadership and management of research programs or initiatives in an academic environment or an equivalent combination of formal qualifications and experience.
