POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Supervisor, SCADA Data Management and Support, is responsible for providing customer support, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, system backups and documentation of PCS/SCADA Technology and Infrastructure (T&I) components, including storage, security, software, wireless, network and disaster recovery, etc.; working closely with division PCS/SCADA staff, ITS staff and vendors to ensure all PCS/SCADA T&I components are monitored, maintained, available, reliable and of sufficient capacity and capability to support current and future infrastructure initiatives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tracks and manage requests for support from PCS/SCADA team, in compliance with corporate and department standards, guidelines, policies and the Sustainable Water and Sewage Act.
- Works closely with Corporate IT Security to maintain and monitor SCADA network security systems to mitigate potential cybersecurity threats.
- Develops and implements projects to test, install, configure, maintain and repair SCADA data centres and SCADA networking components.
- Creates and maintains documentation and diagrams of SCADA data centre networking components, including locations, serial numbers, revision levels, software licensing and service history.
- Creates, maintains and documents standard operating procedures and firewall configurations and rules to ensure SCADA system security and daily procedures are effective, documented and followed.
- Develops metrics and reports to measure SCADA network performance, uptime and utilization.
- Performs monitoring and maintenance procedures on SCADA data centre and networking components and makes recommendations for improvement in reliability, availability and incident and problem management procedures.
- Utilizes backup software to ensure all server and switch backups and restores are performed in compliance with PCS/SCADA requirements.
- Works with PCS/SCADA, IT and vendors to configure and support SCADA data centre and networking components.
- Provides effective knowledge transfer regarding SCADA networking and server components to PCS/SCADA and IT staff.
- Performs backup duties within the branch as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Information Technology or a related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP); and Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the Information Technology field maintaining a server and Industrial or SCADA networking infrastructure for a large organization, including large missions critical servers, disk storage and backup devices, Enterprise backup software, network switches, routers, hubs and management software, Microsoft server operating systems and utilities and TCP/IP network infrastructure.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and network security architecture.
- Experience with multi-path LAN/WAN network topologies employing multiple communication media such as fiber, cellular, and radio
- Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
- Ability to work closely with staff and external vendors to ensure the Region’s data centre and networking systems are highly available and of sufficient capacity to meet the needs of Regional employees.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours with overtime, standby and occasionally shift work, as required.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
