Job description
Corporate Controller:
Our well-established, stable, client is searching for a Corporate Controller to join their team. This role will be responsible for a wide variety of controllership duties requiring strong analytical skills. A successful candidate will have high attention to detail, provide a confident presence for the accounting department and drives process improvements. This role reports directly to the Director of Finance.
Your success will be defined by your ability to: - Prepare monthly corporate financial statements and reporting packages including variance analysis and MD&A
- Manage the year end processes and reporting. Coordinating with external accounting firms for year end review engagements and tax filings
- Ad hoc reporting and financial analysis supporting the greater group of companies as required
- Manage and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable teams
- Oversee payroll function for the company, supporting the Director of Finance and CFO with group wide payroll oversight and initiatives as required
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Develop, document and improve business processes to create efficiencies and strengthen internal controls
- Provide support to the group on accounting systems conversion and implementation
- Support the CFO and Director of Finance with merger and acquisition activities
- Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Assist with additional financial management duties as necessary including insurance review
Your strengths include: - Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is required
- Public practice experience is considered an asset
- 5+ years of post-designation experience in a senior financial role
- Experience in a multi-company environment
- Ability to embrace change, continually improving processes and maintaining confidentiality
