Job Description
The Assistant Head Nurse assists the Care Team Manager to assess, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate Nursing Services of the nursing department in keeping with the policies, philosophies and objectives of the SHA.
Job Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic Life Support for Care Givers (BLS-HCP)
- Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support and/or PAALS Certified
- Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Experience Minimum 3 to 5 years experience working llong term care. Preference will be given to the applicant with minimum 1 year leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to lead best practice
- Ability to promote a collaborative and team approach
- Ability to teach and mentor nursing staff and other clinical trainees
- Computer skills in such programs as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in applying the nursing process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership skills to ensure positive outcomes in care
- Supervisory skills
