United General Insurance based in beautiful Fredericton, New Brunswick has asked Paul Melanson at MacDonald Search Group to assist them in recruiting for their next CEO.

On January 1, 2019, Farm Mutual Re in Cambridge, Ontario acquired United General. Farm Mutual Re provides financial stability and insurance capacity to the Mutual insurers in Canada. With expertise in insurance product development, analytics, claims management, and loss control, their presence as United General’s parent company strengthens United General and the people who work there.

The CEO is responsible for setting and implementing the strategic direction for United General. This individual is focused on building a business strategy that anticipates and responds to market opportunities and challenges as well as supports the sustainability and independence of the Mutual community.

The CEO will need to have:

- Strategic Leadership experience in Property & Casualty Insurance
- Knowledge of or experience in the Mutual Insurance world
- Experience reporting to a Board of Directors
- University or post secondary Education
- Experience building and maintaining relationships in rural environments, ideally in Atlantic Canada
- Strong financial acumen and P&L experience
- FCIP/CIP Designation
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion champion
