THE ROLEUnder the supervision of Lead Guide, the Tourist guide greets visitors, conducts guided tours, provides interpretation and assistance to individual clients and groups. She/he provides animation during school visits and/or any other types of offered learning activities. She/he distributes information leaflets, responds to inquiries by visitors.
She/he handles a key position on the field during military ceremonies, does the announcing during the ceremonies and insure that visitors respect all rules on an active military base. She/he handle particularities with VIP visits and deliver visits when necessary.
She/he participate with the implementation of new products and participates to historic costumed animations. She/he must offer on a daily basis, a high level of customer service determined by the direction, her/his historical knowledge and develop her/his aptitude and competencies. She/he ensures safety and emergency procedures are followed, and responds to fire alarms and other emergencies.
She/he stocks shelves of gift shop, operates electronic cash register or optical reader, calculates exchange rate, receives payment by cash, cheques, credit cards or automatic debits, wraps or places merchandise in bags, produces the daily sales report and reconciles with total sales.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND experience in animation or as a guide
Experience
In heritage interpretation or animation
In providing customer service
In preparing and conducting oral or written presentations
In cash handling
In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail and Internet browsing

PSP: Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs. Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.
