Job description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Planner to join their growing team.

The incumbent will oversee planning, purchasing, and internal production by following standard processes and procedures. This role ensures precise delivery dates and communicates regularly with internal customers to keep them informed of order status until shipment. This role also supports Purchasing, Sales & Operation Manager in delivering department data, metrics and forecasts.

Responsibilities
Deliver assigned orders on schedule while ensuring quality and accuracy.
Respond promptly to internal and external customers’ queries and keep them informed of order status.
Monitor orders in backlog and coordinate with relevant departments to address possible order delays.
Evaluate and confirm new demand, ship dates, and production orders to internal and external customers.
Complete planning and review of assigned orders, including scheduling in-house jobs and sourcing from suppliers and subsidiaries.

Discuss with other departments to make decisions on make / buy options based on capacity.
Create and update documents such as routing cards, production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to identify personnel and materials needs and priorities.
Communicate with department supervisors and other staff to check progress and make necessary changes.
Perform short term capacity planning, workload smoothing, and manufacturing scheduling using SAP.
Generate periodic reports for Huddles meeting, monthly reports, and any other data analysis required by the department.
Handle customer orders and repairs according to standard processes and procedures, including items that are “repair”, “make to order”, and “engineered to order”.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to bills of materials (BOM) and production routers.
Participate in kick-off and hand-off meetings for strategic projects.
Represent planning department for external audits (ISO 9001, CSA N299.3, etc.).
Assist annual inventory process.
Participate actively in the Quality Management System, auditing other departments.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.
Five years of working in a role that involves production and scheduling planning.
Strong skills in SAP, including MRP, RFQ, planned orders, production orders, purchase orders, requisitioning, routing cards and approval workflow.
Experience with S4 Hana is an advantage.
Ability to handle rapidly changing requirements, especially for urgent service work and repairs.
Ability to apply continuous improvement to all aspects of the planning and procurement process.
Experience in working in a cross-functional business team environment is desirable.
Experience in production scheduling in a machine shop environment and basic knowledge of blueprint reading is beneficial.
APICS Certification is a plus.
