Job description
The Lead, Quebec Communications will develop, oversee and execute product communications across all brands (Honda Auto, Acura, Powersports, and Power Equipment) and external corporate communications for the province of Quebec. Some support for English-language communications may be required. Annual communications strategies and tactics, workbacks, sale planning documentation, media plans, crisis communications, influencer outreach, journalist communications, press fleet activation and model launch activities will be created for the Quebec market. Corresponding KPIs and reporting will be created to track results and create countermeasures where required.
The Lead has responsibility in creating effective plans to achieve results, reporting success and the researching and testing of new initiatives is to be expected. Working with National to ensure targets are met is the main focus, so communication is key within all areas. Coordination with American counterparts to find and create efficiencies will keep brand voice consistent. The Lead will directly lead and manage the day-to-day activities and KPIs of the Quebec partner PR agency team on monthly media pitches and communication strategies. The Lead is also expected to routinely opine and make recommendations on issues that contribute to the overall public perception of the brands in Quebec across all communications channels. The major end results of this work include increased brand consideration by consumers and the overall elevation and protection of the Honda Auto, Acura, Powersports and Power Equipment brand reputation in Quebec, as well as the mitigation of issues and/or crisis damaging to the brand.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning of yearly activities and events across all brands, including strategy with external agencies and vendors;
Creation of Plan-Do-Check-Act documentation, regular reporting to management and Brand leads (where required);
Media relations and Issue management, such as proactive and reactive positioning statements, required support assets (press releases, photos, etc.), spokesperson preparation;
Sales planning model launch activity, and reporting – including sales planning documentation that covers the details surrounding a model launch pre and post periods, as well as sustainment plans;
Social listening - Working with the social media team, proactively and reactively handle all product-related issues management topics and customer escalations in the Quebec market, decide on course of action and appropriate response;
Influencer outreach - Support of articles, posts, or videos from Influencers with key messaging for Quebec market execution;
Translation - Occasional translation of National-created media materials.
POSITION PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Public Relations Management, Communications, or Marketing related post-secondary diploma required; or relevant industry experience
7 plus years of relevant experience;
Demonstration of leading through influence. Issues management and media relations an asset. Ability to work external vendors. Previous automotive experience an asset;
Must be fully bilingual. Strong communication, written, and presentation skills. Issue management and/or crisis training. Keen eye and attention to detail. Project management and event planning. Strong interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to work on cross-functional teams;
Develops and maintains good working relationships with Brand Leads, Quebec Media, External Vendors, and Internal company colleagues. advantages.
