RESIDENT CARE MANAGER

Labrador Grenfell Health requires a dynamic Resident Care Manager to provide creative leadership and support to a 54 - bed long- term care home providing level 3 or 4 care in the John. M Gray in St. Anthony, NL.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with excellent leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills, a critical thinker with experience in quality improvement and risk management initiatives to promote optimal delivery of care and services. The position is responsible for overall management and operations of the home, including resident care, programs, services, human resources and fiscal performance. The position is accountable to the Regional Director of Seniors Care: Long-Term Care/Personal Care Homes.
Qualifications:
" A Baccalaureate prepared graduate of a health care related discipline with registration through a provincial regulatory body;
" A Minimum of Five (5) years' experience as a registered health care provider;
" A Minimum of two (2) years' experience with one (1) leadership experience;
" A Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a long-term care setting;
" Successful completion of a management course, or willingness to complete within a designated timeframe;
" Proven ability to work independently, exercise considerable judgement and initiative in performing duties;
" Demonstrated ability to lead and engage multidisciplinary teams in a unionized environment;
" Experience in and demonstrated knowledge of the Continuous Quality Improvement processes and Risk Management;
" Passion for resident-centered philosophy of care and work with seniors;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Major Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to)
" Plans, organizes, manages and evaluates delivery of care and services for the Long-Term Care home;
" Provides leadership and guidance to members of the multidisciplinary team;
" Implements and follows evidence-based practices to guide clinical care;
" Monitors staffing needs to determine appropriate staffing;
" Manages all aspects of human resources including hiring, orientation, performance evaluations, discipline and attendance management;
" Completes, submits and authorizes payroll for the nursing personnel;
" Monitors monthly financial statements and explains applicable variances;
" Completes Continuous Quality Improvement audits to monitor and evaluate compliance with set standards;
" Completes and monitors Critical Safety Reporting System (CSRS), Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS), Provincial Incident Employee Reporting System (PIERS);
" Participates in policy development;
" Collaborates with staff, residents, families and Regional Director of Seniors Care in setting annual goals for the home operations;
" Submits monthly written reports to the Regional Director of Long -Term Care;
" Chairs staff meetings, and chairs/participates in standing committees as required;
" Ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements, standards and policies;
" Other related duties as required.
Salary:
" In accordance with the HAY Management Pay Plan. Subject to classification.
Hours of Work:
" 70 hours Bi-weekly, Monday-Friday, after hours on call may be required.
