The Finance department is a part of the administration team, providing support to the programs of House of Friendship. We are seeking an individual to be responsible for assisting with aspects of general accounting and financial analysis, including financial reports and internal budgets to support the financial management of the organization.
** This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position
with paid sick time, personal days and vacation time;
group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.
Schedule to generally be daytime, weekday hours. Occasional evening
and/or weekend hours may be required to support House of Friendship events.
Work may be performed in a home office for some of the weekly hours. **
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with financial analysis, accounting functions and reports to funders
· Prepare quarter end and year-end journal entries and working papers for year-end audit
· Assist in creating and maintaining budgets spreadsheets
· Prepare bank deposits and monitor bank accounts
· Assist with payroll processing and related accounting
· Prepare quarterly account reconciliations
· Prepare quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for management
· Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested
· Provide financial and administrative support for fundraising activities and management
· Assist with reception and provide backup to main office staff as necessary
Skills & Experience:
· Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration or related field
· Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, etc.), or working towards an accounting designation would be considered an asset
· Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP), or working towards the designation would be considered an asset
· Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in accounting
· Experience in accounting systems; knowledge of Financial Edge NXT considered an asset
· Current knowledge of payroll systems and knowledge of quadrant Workforce considered an asset
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
· Knowledge and familiarity with legislation and practices relating to registered charities considered an asset
· Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
· Strong organizational and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
· Commitment to understand and uphold the mission, vision and values of House of Friendship is expected
· Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills required
· Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members
· Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs
· Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery
· Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude
· Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges
· Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping
· Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines are required

Rate of Pay:
At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of “grades” and we base our payment structure on internal equity. When determining rate of pay, a candidate’s past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience are currently on the pay grid. Note: Due to the internal composition of our pay grids, many team members with lengthy experience are between the start and mid-point of the range and therefore most new team members will be placed similarly.

Min: $21.53
Mid: $24.93
Max: $28.33
Working Conditions:
·37.5 hours per week, generally daytime, weekday hours
· Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required to support House of Friendship events
· Work may be performed in a home office for some of the weekly hours
· Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected
