Career Opportunity The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire a full time Director, Information Technology & Cybersecurity in the Information Technology (IT) Division. Reporting to the President + CEO, this position is responsible and accountable for providing leadership, management, and directing the company’s Information Technology (IT) Department and operations. They will ensure the IT department provides efficient and effective technology with cyber-security services for the company, including upholding customer service and training of CTCC staff on all information systems and related technologies. The Director, IT & Cybersecurity is liable for the day-to-day operation and long-term strategic planning for the IT Department while ensuring the security of information technology systems is maintained. This “hands-on” position includes, but is not limited to, developing, recommending, and implementing corporate technology strategies, standards, policies, controls, IT human resourcing, service contractor management, hardware and software inventory management, licensing management and overall cyber-security for the company. Duties and Responsibilities

Creates framework for reviewing large volumes of unorganized data. Anticipates the possible outcome of potential solutions. Systemically identifies and resolves complex enterprise-wide issues, while educating senior leaders as to their solution. Business Process Knowledge: Analyzes enterprise processes for major enhancements to customer satisfaction and cost reduction. Identifies metrics for strategic business process improvement. Applies Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) techniques to complex processes that cross the enterprise. Presents the core technical and strategic concepts of process improvement. Identifies and facilitates sensitive responses to environmental, financial, and organizational concerns and issues. Approves and sponsors process improvement recommendations. Identifies the value of process improvements and solicits the support of senior business leaders. Change Advocate: Leads the planning and implementation of change programs that impact critical functions/processes. Partners with other resource managers/change agents to identify opportunities for significant process enhancements. Recommends changes that impact strategic business direction. Sets expectations for monitoring and feedback systems and reviews performance trends. Evaluates progress and involves peers and team members in analyzing strengths and weaknesses in performance. Improves efficiency by spearheading pilots and planned functional change initiatives. Client Focused: Ability to lead communications at an event level with clients and guests. Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. Ability to forecast, anticipate, understand, and respond to client needs and activate appropriate actions, follows up with actions to ensure steps taken are sufficient to exceed client needs. Analyzes previous experience and applies knowledge to future client interactions. Maintains positive, helpful, and outgoing demeanor in the face of a difficult client, can engage and de-escalate difficult situations, turning a negative experience into a positive one for a client. Communication for Results: Converses with, authors reports for, and creates/delivers presentations to all levels of colleagues and peer groups in ways that support problem-solving and planning. Seeks a consensus with business partners. Debates opinions, tests understanding, and clarifies judgments. Brings conflict into the open empathetically. Explains the context of multiple interrelated situations, asks searching, probing questions, and solicits expert advice prior to taking action and making recommendations. Decision Making: Assess and lead fact-based decisions in high-risk situations; coach others accordingly and take accountability for final decision outcomes. Makes a reasoned selection between methods, systems, or procedures where guidelines are broad. Makes decisions having significant consequences, consistent with the organization’s values and able to withstand public scrutiny. Puts systems in place to proactively monitor risks and determine acceptable risk tolerance. Problem Solving: Anticipates problem areas and associated risk levels with objective rationale. Uses formal methodologies to forecast trends and define innovative strategic choices in response to the potential implications of multiple integrated options. Generates and solicits the approval of senior leadership prior to defining critical issues and solutions to unclear, multi-faceted problems of high risk which span across and beyond the enterprise. Risk Management: Develops best practices, strategies, and procedures to manage situations and calls. Develops broad strategies that reflect in-depth understanding and social realities and risks. Adapts strategies to consider evolving trends, best practices, and stakeholders. Education * Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
