About veritree:
veritree is a planting management platform developed by tentree, a restorative apparel company that plants ten trees for every item sold. The technology that has powered tentree's tree planting is now accessible to other organizations who also want to help restore the planet through nature-based solutions.
About the role:
veritree is seeking a builder to design, execute, iterate and scale its Product Owner function. This individual will play a critical role in laying the foundation for the Product Management competency at veritree, ensuring Corporate and Planting Partner needs are prioritized and built into the veritree platform.
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in backend architecture.
- Possess a strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Have effectively led the development of processes to translate user needs into detailed engineering tickets.
- Create necessary documentation to facilitate the scaling of our Product and Engineering team.
Key outcomes for this role include:
- Establishment and documentation of a comprehensive understanding of veritree’s product and its intricacies.
- Development of a prioritized product backlog that adds value and aligns with the evolving needs of our partners.
- Refinement of our Agile process to ensure engineering tickets are easily comprehensible, estimable, and actionable.
Job responsibilities:
Process Establishment and Documentation:
- You will design and implement end-to-end Product Ownership processes and documentation for veritree, enabling knowledge diffusion throughout the company.
- You will establish best practices and standard operating procedures for the Product Management discipline at veritree
Agile Methodology and Release Planning:
- You will embrace and champion agile methodologies (Scrum) to facilitate efficient and iterative product development.
- You will work with development teams to plan and schedule product releases.
- You will ensure that releases are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
- You will collaborate with stakeholders, including partners, cofounders, and internal teams, to understand and help prioritize product requirements.
- You will give actionable direction to engineering teams.
- You will communicate additions, delays, and changes to product priorities
- You will communicate the product roadmap and progress to all relevant stakeholders.
Product Lifecycle Management
- You will gather and analyze user needs, industry trends, and competitive products to define detailed product requirements.
- You will help prioritize features and create user stories, ensuring a well-defined backlog for development teams.
- You will write technically sound engineering tickets to be prioritized and delivered by the engineering team.
- You will maintain and help prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it reflects the most valuable features and enhancements.
- You will regularly review and refine the backlog based on changing priorities and feedback.
- You will collaborate with designers and cofounders to create user-friendly and visually appealing product interfaces.
- You will ensure that the product meets high standards of usability and customer satisfaction.
- You will collaborate with the engineering team to define acceptance criteria.
- You will participate in testing activities to validate that the product meets user expectations.
- You will define KPIs to measure the success of the product.
- You will analyze data and feedback to make informed decisions and continuously improve the product.
Requirements
Professional Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, or similar role, in a technology company
- Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Continuous improvement mindset, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and trends.
- Certification in Product Ownership (i.e., CSPO) is a plus.
- The ability to self-manage tasks, deliverables, and expectations in a fast-paced environment

A typical hiring range for this position is $105,000 - $135,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
